Disk Tides and Accretion Runaway

چکیده

It is suggested that tidal interaction of an accreting planetary embryo with the gaseous pre-planetary disk may provide a mechanism to breach the so-called runway limit during the formation of the giant planet cores. The disk tidal torque converts a would-be shepherding obj ect into a “predator”, which can continue to cannibalize the planet.esirnal disk. This is more likely to occur in the giant planet region than the terrestrial zone, providing a natural cause for Jupiter to predate the inner planets and form within the 0(107) year lifetime of the nebula. Effect of the temperature profile of the accretion disk on the structure of jets and outflows around protostars

Magnetic fields play an important role in creating, driving, and in the evolution of outflows and jets from protostars and accretion disks. On the other hand, the temperature profile of the accretion disks may also affect the structure of the magnetic field and outflows. In this paper, we use the self-similar method in cylindrical coordinates to investigate the effect of the temperature profile...

Similarity Solution for Formation of Circumstellar Disk through the Collapse of a Rotating Cloud

We present similarity solutions which describe the runaway collapse of a rotating isothermal cloud and its subsequent inside-out collapse. The similarity solutions contain the sound speed, c s , and the ratio of the speci c angular momentum to the mass, !, as model parameters. During the runaway collapse, the surface density of the disk is nearly constant in the central part and inversely propo...

The runaway instability in general-relativistic accretion disks

When an accretion disk falls prey to the runaway instability, a large portion of its mass is devoured by the black hole within a few dynamical times. Despite decades of effort, it is still unclear under what conditions such an instability can occur. The technically most advanced relativistic simulations to date were unable to find a clear sign for the onset of the instability. In this work, we ...

On the stability of thick accretion disks around black holes

Discerning the likelihood of the so-called runaway instability of thick accretion disks orbiting black holes is an important issue for most models of cosmic gamma-ray bursts. To this aim we investigate this phenomenon by means of time-dependent, hydrodynamical simulations of black hole plus torus systems in general relativity. The evolution of the central black hole is assumed to be that of a s...

Accretion in Gravitationally Contracting Clouds

Accretion flow in a contracting magnetized interstellar cloud was studied using magnetohydrodynamical simulations and a nested grid technique. First, the interstellar magnetized cloud experiences a “runaway collapse” phase, in which the central density increases drastically within a finite time scale. Finally, it enters an accretion phase, in which inflowing matter accretes onto a central high-...
